Nature of request
Emson shows that Methley distrained Banke by his livestock for rent and duties due the king, and these were placed in the pound at Allerton Bywater according to the law until the time that Box and Scolys came with many others arrayed for war and by force and arms broke the pound and drove the animals away to the great hurt of the king and without payment. He requests several letters of the privy seal to be directed to Box and Scolys for them to appear before the king at a certain day and place to answer for the premises.

[on face:]Let letters be sent the 8th May, 20 Edw. IV to appear at Westminster in the morrow of St John the Baptist under pain of £40.[On dorse:]Richard Emson, general attorney to the king of his duchy of Lancaster.
