Golden complained to the king at his manor of Woodstock for the great murder and slaying of her husband John by Langham and others, for which the king sent his letters missive to Lord Hastings to take the five, and accordingly he took Gardyner, but the others go wherever it pleases them, and she, meeting them in Atherstone, she called upon the constable and commanded him in the king's name to take them, but he answered that he had no authority without a general commission from the king by which it be known by proclamation in all the market towns in the counties, and the murderers have threatened to kill her because of her suit, and she now dare not return to her house.

The petition is dated to? c. 1472 on the basis of the dating of SC 8/334/E1191 the preceding petition which is sewn to this petition. The petition refers to Lord Hastings, so is clearly of Edward IV's reign.
