[The plaint is badly damaged].Exchequer plaint by which the complainant complains of Abingdon and others who imprisoned in Newgate for 6 weeks by the authority of their office. He was mainprised by Bray and Ellis but subsequently detained.1)

The plaint is dated to c. 1319 as it appears that this plaint was part of a file (SC 8/334/E1154-E1183B) that seems to date to the York parliament held in 1319 (cf. SC 8/334/E1183B). The plaint refers to Abingdon and he was sheriff from Michaelmas 1314 to Michaelmas 1315 (List of Sheriffs, p. 201).
