[The plaint is badly damaged].Exchequer plaint by which the complainant [complains] of William de Furneys and Robert de [...] who by the authority of their office have detained two bills of £10 that they have [taken] from him [...] in Soperes Lane in London together with the money contained in the [...] same bills upon his account at the Exchequer on the morrow of Michaelmas [...] of the £1,000 that the king owes to the commonalty of London, whereon he is not able to anything [...] of the king and to the damage of the petitioner in £20 or more.1)

The plaint is dated to c. 1319 as it appears that this plaint was part of a file (SC 8/334/E1154-E1183B) that seems to date to the York parliament held in 1319 (cf. SC 8/334/E1183B). The plaint itself refers to the eleventh year of the reign of Edward II. Furneys was sheriff of London from Michaelmas 1317 to Michaelmas 1318 (List of Sheriffs, p. 202).
