The plaint is dated to c. 1319 as it appears that this plaint was part of a file (SC 8/334/E1154-E1183B) that seems to date to the York parliament held in 1319 (cf. SC 8/334/E1183B). The plaint refers to William de Causton in the response and a reference is struck through to him in the contents of the petition itself, where he is referred to as formerly sheriff (of London), and he served between Michaelmas 1316 and 1317 (List of Sheriffs, p. 202).
