- [The petition is badly damaged down its right-hand side so that the full sense of both requests is not completely clear. Petition in two parts]:1) Gaunt requests letters to the steward or his lieutenant to cease all manner of claims against reason concerning the hearing of pleas in the prince's manor Ashford in the wapentake of High Peak, and that he is able to have cognizance of pleas in the wapentake in the manner that it has always been used.2) Gaunt complains of the default of the princes two frankpledges in his manor of Ashford.
