[Top left-hand corner missing] Jacomine de Merk requests remedy because Despenser has released Lachelee from prison. Jacomine brought a writ of oyer and terminer before Maddingley and his companions against Lachelee, by which he was to be imprisoned by the sheriff of Essex until he had made grace to her and the King.

She should have a writ to cause the record of the said plea to come before the King, and there justice shall be done according to the contents of the petition.

Note
The petition dates to c. 1320. In 1319 there was an oyer and terminer into the petitioner's complaint against Lachelee and others (CPR 1317-20, p. 358). When the decision was made to disinherit the Despensers, one of the charges laid against them was that the younger Despenser had released Lachelee from imprisonment at Colchester for a trespass against the lady of Merk before he had agreed with her for damages (CCR 1318-23, p. 494).
