Canon requests a grant in tail male of lands and rents in Rathcoffey, Mainham and elsewhere in the barony of Ikeathy which are in the King's hand by reason of the death of Isabel, wife of Henry son of Henry de Rochford, who held the same in dower.1)
Nature of endorsement
This petition should be sent to the King's council in London and who should be advised by Hotham, and they should certify the King what should finally be done.2) Hotham testified before the council that Canon well and faithfully served the King in Ireland but he does not know the quantity or value of the land, but says that the land was assigned in a gift of lands late of Rochford which came into the King's hand as his escheat, and that John Wogan held two parts of those lands for his life by the King's commission.
