Nature of request
Warton requests that the King order the arrest of his goods and merchandises captured by men of Flanders. He and other merchants of Beverley had hired three Flemish ships with wool and wool-fells at Kingston-upon-Hull, of which 16 sacks of wool and 110 wool-fells belonged to the petitioner, but on their way to Flanders Flemish men captured the ships and goods at a place called the Scheldt and took them to Flanders. Although they had a writ of arrest thereon, it was surceased for a long time because of the treaty between the King and the Count of Flanders.
