Nature of request
The people of Carlisle request an inquisition into the names of the people who have accroached parts of the King's fishery in the River Eden between Fishgarth Holme and Rockcliffe, which fishery has always been annexed to the town of Carlisle in aid of their farm, and that when the inquisition has been returned in Chancery, that they may have remedy.
Nature of endorsement
Certain people should be assigned in Chancery to enquire into the King's right to the fishery, and if it is annexed to the farm of the town, and into the names of the malefactors, and when they have fished and within what bounds, and how many times and for how long, and with what manner of device, and what kind of fish and of what value, and into all other necessary things etc. And the inquisition should be returned in Chancery so that the King can then ordain what should be done.
