Nature of request
Copy of a writ of Edward I to the sheriff of Northumberland rehearsing the above plea [SC 8/331/15643] before Cressingham, as the result of which the land had been taken into the King's hand, and authorising the restitution of the said 45 acres to hold at the King's pleasure. Dated 17 August 1295.1)
Nature of endorsement
The King ordered that ...2) Let all justices and others of the council convene and do what should be done.3) Since the King returned seisin of the land to him at pleasure, he should only be required to answer for the land; and since by inquisition of the grand assize he was confirmer in the ownership, the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer should discharge him concerning the issues.
