- [The petition is badly damaged along its right-hand side, and the sense is not completely clear]. Forner shows that the king ordered the seneschal to amortise £10 worth of rent [...] to make a chaplain for his clerk, but only rent of 100s. was given to the clerk [...] and the chapel has not been begun for lack of finance. He requests that the rent of 100s. be amortised [...].

Note (Additional information about the record)
- The petition is dated to c. 1317-c. 1330 because the petition appears to be part of a file of Gascon petitions that date to this approximate date (SC 8/330/E979-E994). Few of the petitions have proved easily datable, only SC 8/330/E987 proving of any real use, referring to John de Weston as the former chamberlain of Scotland, and he ceased to hold that office in 1317. Several of the petitions seem to refer to war service, and it is unclear whether these are references to the war in the last years of Edward I or to that of St Sardos, hence the late date of c. 1330.
