Nature of request
Saluces requests that the sheriff of Nottinghamshire be commanded to deliver the parishioners from his free chapel and that the official of the chapter of York be commanded not to intermeddle or use any manner of jurisdiction in the free chapel. The official came into the liberty of the free chapel to summon and excommunicate several of the parishioners, and afterwards at the purchase of the caption they are detained in the prison of Nottingham in prejudice of the king and his free chapel.

The petition is dated to 1300 as the sheriff was commanded on 1 April 1300 to release the parishioners in bail to mainpernors that they be before the king and council at the next parliament (CCR 1296-1302, p. 344).
