Council.

Grey requests remedy and that the king will remove his hand from the lands and tenements that are held from him in Sandiacre as he ought to have the custody of them because Richard, kinsman and heir of Richard de Grey holds them from him in chief but the escheator has taken the lands and tenements into the king's hand because Richard held in Sandiacre in chief of the king.

Note
The petition is dated to c. 1298 as it is clearly contemporary with SC 8/329/E957 which is so dated because the inquisition post mortem of Richard de Grey took place over 26 and 27 Edw. I, 1298-1299 (CIPM, vol. III, no. 467).
