The executors request remedy and that the king will remove his hand from the manor of Harston as they ought to have the custody of the manor because Richard, kinsman and heir of Richard de [Grey] held the manor in chief from Earl Edmund but the escheator has taken the manor into the king's hand because Richard held the manor of Sandiacre in chief of the king.

Sandiacre, [Derbyshire].
People mentioned
Edmund [Crouchback, Earl of Leicester], brother of the king
Richard [Grey], kinsman and heir of Richard de [Grey].
Note
The petition is dated to c. 1298 as Edmund, earl of Lancaster died in 1296, and the inquisition post mortem of Richard de Grey took place over 26 and 27 Edw. I, 1298-1299, and the petition must date to around this time (CIPM, vol. III, no. 467).
