Nature of request
The prior requests remedy as the king granted by his charter to the prior and convent that they have their lands and possessions within the bounds of the Forest freely and that they are able to take venison and that no minister of the king will enter their lands against the will of the prior, and according to this a writ was ordered to the king's ministers where their lands are, but notwithstanding this the constable of Marlborough will not suffer the prior to chase or take anything in the moiety of his manor of Overton nor to cut his woods growing there, nor to take his profit because of the king's warren of the castle of Marlborough in prejudice of the liberty, since the prior is able to assart and take his profit at will by the king's charter.
