Nature of request
The vicar requests that it be granted that Hegham and Gravesend by assigned justices to deliver the gaol of him as Yarmouth procured to have him imprisoned concerning an alleged robbery of the same Yarmouth and he cannot by replevied. He also requests an oyer and terminer of the trespass of imprisonment made against him by Wengrave and Richard.

The petition is speculatively dated to c. 1293-c. 1305 in part on the basis of the hand, but also because the petitioner seems likely to be the John Esegar of Shoreham, chaplain who was presented to Camberwell by the king on 23 August 1293 (CPR 1292-1301, p. 37).
