Nature of request
The abbot and convent request that the king take the tithes that they receive to maintain thirteen ministers and two canons for daily service in the free chapel of St George in the castle of Oxford as certain malicious people disturb them and gather the tithes. They request a writ to the sheriff of Oxford to defend them.
Nature of endorsement
They should defend their tithes if it seems to them expeditious, and if they are robbed they should sue in court christian.
