Reference
SC 8/328/E898
Date
[c. 1295-c. 1315]
Description
Petitioners
William Moigne of Huntingdonshire.
Name(s)
Moigne, William
Addressees
King and council.
Places mentioned
Huntingdonshire.
Nature of request
Moigne shows that the dozeners of Huntingdonshire have assessed him at £40 of land without having regard that he is paying £15 per annum to the king for the debt of his father, and he requests that they are commanded that the petitioner not be aggrieved until the debt has been paid.
Nature of endorsement
Concerning the inquisition, the king does not take attaints upon the tallies and inquisitions. And concerning the debt owed to the king, the king will have council.
Note
The petition is speculatively dated to c. 1295-c. 1315 on the basis of the hand. A William le Moigne or Moygne seems to be active in patent roll entries from 1292 to at least 1313, and it is not clear whether this is the same person.
