Nature of request
Vaus requests that the king will write to the pope, and to his friends in the court of Rome, cardinals and others that they be favourable in his business for advancement. He was leased the office of chancery of Bayone with his master, Cornere, and for his service his master gave him a church in Dorchester. The church is insufficient to sustain him and he has not had advancement by the bishop and chapter of Bayonne or Bishop Nicholas.
