Nature of request
Darcy states that the castle of Chepstow is not stocked with wine and victuals and that the abbots of Stanley, Gloucester, Bristol and Tintern, and the prior of Goldcliff can aid in the stocking with the provision of various quantities of grain and livestock [specified in detail for each abbot and prior]. He requests that the king will give order for him to receive, keep and renew the stock when the time comes.

The petition is dated to c. 1310-c. 1313 as the petitioner was in possession of the castle between these dates, though the exact dates of his tenure of the office of constable do not seem to be recorded (CPR 1307-13, pp. 272, 599).
