Nature of request
Those of the house of Bermondsey request that the king will allow by the peace now made between the king's of England and France the great debt which is now demanded of them for the farm for seven and a half years of the war. If this cannot be done they request that the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer be ordered to make allowance of whatever can be found by account or other manner of the sums, by commission of the king, delivered, taken or expended by the keepers of the priory during the vacancy at the house. They also request allowance for the sustenance of those of the house in the same manner as has been allowed to priors alien of the same condition.

The petition is dated to c. 1307-c. 1315 on the basis that this petition seems likely to result from the war between England and France that occurred in the last years of Edward I and was settled at Montreuil. It is possible that the petition dated to the period of 1312-1313 like many other petitions in this file.
