Reference
SC 8/327/E826
Date
[c. 1312-c. 1320]
Description
Petitioners
John de Acres.
Name(s)
de Acres, John
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Acres requests remedy as he lately bought a small piece of land in Westminster and at his great cost built houses on it, and it was found by inquisition that this place had never been in the king's possession, but now the king's people come and occupy this house as a possession of the king so that he can have no profit from it.
Nature of endorsement
[None].
Places mentioned
Westminster.
People mentioned
Edmund de Maule (Mauley), then Steward of the Household.
Note
The petition is dated to c. 1312-c. 1320 as Edmund de Mauley twice served as steward from December 1310 to October 1312, and, February 1313 to April 1314. The petition could be after either term, and it seems unlikely that the petition is too much later than 1320.
