Nature of request
Nichole requests that having regard for his service made to the king's father in various lands overseas that he will suffer the petitioner, the dean of the chapel not to be ousted from the office which he was given by the king, and against the will of the late king and queen, and confirm and repeal the collation made to Fermband. Fermband alleged that the petitioner was dead, and the collation was made by the archbishop against whom the late king had defended the free chapel in the past [details given].

The petition is dated to c. 1307-c. 1315 as it seems very likely that this petition was from the early part of the reign of Edward II's reign from the description of the petitioner, and by the reference to Robert de Burghersh, then constable of Dover and keeper of the Cinque Ports, who held that office until his death in 1306.
