The petition is dated to? 1283-? 1285 In part this is because the earl of Lancaster was granted his scutage on 8 Oct. 1285, but also on the dating of another petition on the same matter, as a note of which possibly appears in Chancery Parliamentary Proceedings that relate to the parliament held at Acton Burnel in September 1283(SC 8/326/E751; C 49/2/3; Calendar of Various Chancery Rolls, 1277-1326, p. 370).
