The Earl Marshal requests that it is commanded that the records of the Exchequer are searched to see if the land that Verdon held in Holcot was held of the king in chief or not, and if not, that the keeping of them is restored to the earl as he was ousted by the escheator, since he and his ancestors have always had this keeping without disturbance.1)
Nature of endorsement
Let the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer examine the rolls etc. and certify the king after Michaelmas etc.2) Let the rolls be examined according to the tenor of the request [...] that Verdon held anything of the king in chief in Holcot and this order was registered 20 December in the 24 year.
