[The petition is missing a portion of the right-hand of the document which has affected the sense of the petition].Duvedale states that he married one of the daughters of Chaumpanye and had a son by her who is an heir of the moiety of the lands of Chaumpanye, and this heir and his marriage is in the hand of the king, and still resides in the keeping of Alice de Chaumpanye by the gift of the escheator ... Briggeshale has married the other daughter who is aunt to the child .... Dovedale requests the custody of the body of his son and his marriage.
Nature of endorsement
12 February in the 29th year it is ordered to the escheator by the council that he deliver the body of the heir to Duvedale, father of the heir, saving the keeping by good security to render the body of the heir to the king at his will.
