Description

Thomas de Colewen (Corwen); Hugh de Muleton.
Name(s)
de Colewen (Corwen); de Muleton, Thomas; Hugh
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Colewen and Muleton request grace as they were assigned to levy and receive the fifteenth in the county of Cumberland, and at the same time the sheriff of Cumberland and Westmorland put them on assizes and juries at the Bench of the king and they were unable to attend because of their service to the king and the sheriff returned their issues and is now commanded to levy them.
Nature of endorsement
Let this be sent to the treasurer and do of this just as others are in such a case and let it be accounted a year and a day.Let it be known of what issues are they charged, and at what time and before which justices: afterwards the rolls of the Bench were examined, and it is accounted that the issues of Colewen are of the Bench of the 20th year and are extended at 20 marks, and the issues of Muleton are of the same Bench of the same time and are extended at £10; and that they were collectors in the counties by order of the treasurer and barons on the part of the king, and they were to remain in the county being all times intendant. Therefore let a bill of Chancery be made to the collectors.
