Nature of request
The master and brethren request that the king grant and confirm three gifts made to them by the Swynebrokes, Bodyn and Punchard of land in Oxford, purchased after the statute [of mortmain].1)
Nature of endorsement
Let it be sent to the Exchequer.2) It is accounted by the recognizance of Brother Henry that the tenements were acquired after the statute, and are therefore forfeit to the king, and for that reason they cannot have the confirmation without a new gift of the king and a special order of the same.
