Golding requests remedy as Gates brought a writ the sheriff to find pledges to have the petitioner answer in a plea of debt before the justices of the Bench in the quindene of Easter, and the sheriff and the bailiffs returned that they had two pledges, but Golding knows nothing of the writ or the pledges, and the pledges are amerced and this was levied from Golding. [It was later commanded that the petitioner be had] before the justices at another day by distress, but the sheriff demanded a mainprise from the petitioner on the same day so that he could not be in Westminster and 40 leagues distant at the same time and it was ordered that he be attached and he was and held until he found mainprise.
