The Abbot and monks of the new abbey of Our Lady of Graces by the Tower of London (St Mary Graces, Eastminster).

Nature of request
The abbot and monks request that the king will consider the intent of his grandfather's avowal, and that the abbey of his foundation is still not sufficiently built or endowed, and that he will grant and by his letters patent amortise to the abbey all the manors of Leybourne, Gravesend, Lynches, Wateringbury, Gore, Paddocks, and Bicknor with the advowsons of the church and all the other appurtenances, and the reversion of Gomshall after the death of Stanes, to have and to hold to the abbot and monks in pure and perpetual alms according to the will of Edward III. They also request licence be granted to the duke of Lancaster and bishop of Lincoln that they are able to grant and release all the manors to the abbot and monks and their successors. The abbot and monks state that the manors were granted to the duke of Lancaster and others to enfeoff the abbot and convent of after the king's death, and they were enfeoffed and subsequently let the manors at farm to Burley, and after his death the manors were placed in the hand of keepers.1)
