- [The petition is partially obscured by a deteriorating repair].Clayton requests remedy as she had dower of a third of the bailiwick of Pirehill in dower, and she has been ousted when it was taken into the king's hand by the sheriff after the king brought a writ against Geoffrey, though she was not summoned or attached concerning her third of the bailiwick.

- The petition dates to c. 1293 as the plea of quo warranto referred to in the petition was held shortly after Epiphany in 21 Edw. I (Placita Quo Warranto, p.709). There is another petition by the petitioner but with a different surname, which refers to an earlier petition that she had submitted, and it is possible that this is that petition (SC 8/312/E19).
