[The petition is partially obscured by a deteriorating repair].Clayton requests remedy as she had dower of a third of the bailiwick of Pirehill in dower, and she has been ousted when it was taken into the king's hand by the sheriff after the king brought a writ against Geoffrey, though she was not summoned or attached concerning her third of the bailiwick.

The petition dates to c. 1293 as the plea of quo warranto referred to in the petition was held shortly after Epiphany in 21 Edw. I (Placita Quo Warranto, p.709). There is another petition by the petitioner but with a different surname, which refers to an earlier petition that she had submitted, and it is possible that this is that petition (SC 8/312/E19).
