[The petition has suffered some damage to its lower left-hand side, and the full sense of the petition is difficult to discern].The burgesses and people state that the abbot is attempting to appropriate to his liberty things that are regarded to the common profit, and to the easement of the burgesses as well as the abbot by his grievances that he has made to them and by pleas of conspiracy, for which he is impeached by them of his liberties. The abbot has impleaded them of conspiracy and they request the king's commandment by writ [...] for the king's estate and their common profit.
