Date
[c. 1296]
Description
Petitioners
Thomas de Luscy (Lucy).
Name(s)
de Luscy (Lucy), Thomas
Addressees
Council.
Nature of request
Lucy requests that he is able to have the dower lands of Avice de Roule during the minority of the Roule heir as he seized the Roule lands on the death of Alan de Roule, and gave dower to Avice, but because of the Scottish war the sheriff of Cumberland was commanded to take all lands of those of Scotland into the king's hand, and because Avice resided in Scotland at that time her dower lands were seized, and she is now dead.
Nature of endorsement
[None].
Places mentioned
Cumberland
Scotland.
People mentioned
Alan de Roule
Avice [de Roule], widow of Alan de Roule.
Note
The petition dates to c. 1296 as mention is made to the lands of Alice, wife of Alan de Roule, who must be the same individual, and to the seizure of her land. The petition is certainly later, but probably not too much later (Bain, vol. III, p.172).
