The canons complain that the proctors of the bishop of Chichester claim jurisdiction in their chapel which is a free chapel of the king their patron, and they are not able to answer these demands without the king. They request that the king will defend them.[The remainder of the lengthy petition is in parts illegible, but appears to be an exposition of their rights.]
