Nature of request
Bertvile requests that it be granted that he can have two English valets born in England to aid and take his craft for the safe keeping of the town and march, and that they be at the king's wages, and he requests letters of the privy seal to the treasurer of Calais on this.

[On face:]1) The king has granted all that is contained in the bill.2) The Earl of Somerset.3) The letters were made at Westminster according to the endorsement.[On dorse:]By the council [named] of the 22 April in the fifth year it is assented that a warrant be made according to the contents of this petition.
