Nature of request
The bailiffs request a writ to the justice of the Forest or to the sheriff of Essex to enquire of the bounds between Hatfield Forest and Wall Wood, as when the manor of Hatfield was in the hands of Bruce, on the sufferance of Bruce's bailiffs the people of Hallingbury [were allowed to enter] upon the forest and to cut the woods to the disinheritance of the king.
Nature of endorsement
They should have a writ of Chancery.[Interesting but partly obscured early nineteenth-century note on dorse].
