Description
Petitioners
William de Granson.
Name(s)
de Granson, William
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Granson requests that it is commanded to the justices, lieutenants of the king that they proceed to examine the record and process and make and render judgment so that he is not delayed against law and reason and to his disinheritance. He showed at the last parliament at Westminster that in the last eyre in Kent an assize of novel disseisin passed against him though it was against the law and custom of the realm, and this was found to be the case by Brabazon when Granson brought the matter before him.
Nature of endorsement
Coram magno consilio.
Places mentioned
Kent
Horton, [Kent].
People mentioned
Henry (Hervey) de Staunton, justice in eyre in Kent
Frank de Scoland
Roger Brabazon, lieutenant of the king.
Note
The petition is dated to c. 1315 as the petition refers to the eyre in Kent before Hervey de Staunton and his companions which was the eyre of 1313-1314 (Crook, Records of the General Eyre, pp. 180-1). The petition also refers to a parliament held at Westminster which is presumably that held in January 1315.
