Reference
SC 8/310/15496
Date
[? 1405]
Description
Petitioners
Philip la Vache, knight.
Name(s)
Vache, Philip
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
[This petition is badly stained and faded, and a section is missing from the right end. Vache appears to be requesting the confirmation of letters patent of Edward III and Richard II, and the payment of sums due to him from Easter in the king's sixth year.]
Nature of endorsement
[on face] This bill was granted by the king.
Places mentioned
Oxfordshire
Bedfordshire
Buckinghamshire.
People mentioned
Edward III, King of England
Richard II, King of England.
Note
Although much is missing and parts illegible, the petition would seem to be a request for confirmation of grants to the petitioner from Edward III and Richard II involving the counties of Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, and refers to Easter in the king's sixth year. The confirmation to Vache of 9 December 1405 (CPR 1405-8, p. 106) appears to match these terms (except the reference to Oxfordshire), and was the last of a series of grants dating back to 1374.
