Note (Additional information about the record)
- Dated by the handwriting to the mid-fourteenth century, and presumably relating to one of the Scottish or French campaigns of that period. A note on the guard suggests a date of c. 1328, with reference to SC 8/165/8224, another petition by a man of this name; however, there is no clear link between the two, and no evidence that this was the same man.
