- The executors appear to request that debts owed by them to the king be offset against sums owed to them by the king. However, the petition is damaged, and the precise nature of the request is difficult to reconstruct.

- The handwriting would appear to date to the first half of the fourteenth century, while the references to debts from the time of Edward, the king's grandfather, clearly dates the petition to the reign of Edward III. Stanham was a regular royal official during the latter half of Edward I's reign.
