The Prior of Ogbourne requests that whereas he is unable to render to the King the true value of lands (£520) which he has of the King's lease and to find men at arms to keep the sea as he is charged, that he be discharged from the keeping of the sea since he pays more for the custody than was paid in times past for the same.

The petition dates to c. 1340, with reference to CCR 1339-41, p. 246, a 1339 order to supersede an exaction made upon the petitioner to find men at arms for keeping the sea, and to CFR 1337-47, p. 176, the 1340 restitution of the priory of Ogbourne to its prior for £520 yearly.
