Nature of request
Jolif, Welbourne, Baldok, Gildesburgh, Baldok, Pole, Gloucestre, Dunston, Horsman and Lenne, late tenants and farmers of 12 adjacent shops in the parishes of St Mary of Woolnoth in Lombard Street and St Michael Cornhill in Langbourn and Cornhill wards, seized into the King's hands by Pole's forfeiture, request that a writ be directed to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer to allow the tenants to answer in a case on this matter. Exton was charged on his account before the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer in £20 4s 2d rent issuing from the shops when they had already paid this amount to Bolton before the earl's forfeiture, and thus should not be distrained to pay it a second time. They request that they be discharged if they can prove they have paid the money.
