Description
Petitioners
Galhard (Gaillard) de Syran (Siran).
Name(s)
de Syran (Siran), Galhard (Gaillard)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Galhard de Syran makes three requests:1) He states that he has been deprived of lands and rents worth £200 bordelais annually by the French, and that, at the king's command, the Seneschal of Gascony has assigned to him the bailiwicks of Labourd, Buch, and Barsac, the viguerie of the market of Bordeaux, and the custom of Montendre in compensation. Galhard is disturbed in the bailiwick of Labourd by Arnold Durfort, and the others are worth nothing because of the war. He asks that he might have the viguerie of the market of Bordeaux and the custom of Montendre for term of life, in recognition of his losses and his service.2) He states that he is owed £600 bordelais for damage to his houses and manors by the French, and that the king has ordered that he be paid from the goods of the king's rebels and enemies in Gascony. He has received nothing for this, as the Seneschal and Constable attest by their letters patent. He asks that the Constable might be ordered to pay him from the issues of the Duchy and the king's other monies in those parts.3) He asks that the Constable might be ordered to account with him for his wages and those of his men, and to pay him from the issues of the Duchy, or give him an assignment from . . .
Nature of endorsement
[On face, to first] The Seneschal is to be written to, that if he has the . . . [On dorse] It seems that the king can well confirm to him the custom of Montendre and the viguerie of the market of Bordeaux, provided that he releases all the other things contained in his assignment.
