Name(s)
de Lados, Noth (Otho, Otto, Oth)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Noth de Lados states that he has always served the king well and loyalty, and has always obeyed his officers, and that because he obeyed and aided John de Ferreres, lately the Seneschal of Gascony, he was removed from the mayoralty of Bordeaux and the bailiwicks of Lias, and of Le Mas d'Aire, immediately after the seneschal's death; and that for fear of the Lord of Albret and his allies, he has shut himself up in a castle and does not dare to come out. He asks that the Seneschal of Gascony might be ordered to return him to the bailiwicks of Lias and Le Mas d'Aire, and to keep him safe and secure throughout the Duchy of Guyenne, and if necessary, to defend him against all people wishing to harm him because of his serve to the late Seneschal; as he is ready to answer before the king and his ministers against anyone wishing to accuse him of anything because of this service.
Nature of endorsement
The petition is to be sent to the Seneschal of Gascony, and he is to be ordered to guard and defend him from evil and from harm, insofar as he properly can, until the king's messengers, whom he will send after his next parliament, have come there. And with regard to the bailiwicks, the king will tell him by his letters that, when the said messengers have come there, they will hear the business and will do what reason demands.
