Nature of request
Margaret, Countess of Foix and Vicomtesse of Bearn, states that as far as she could she aided John de Ferreres, Seneschal of Gascony, with force and arms to maintain the king's rights in Gascony, and that because of this the commissaries of the King of France, at the suit of the Lord of Albret, summon her constantly in the king's towns, and to Toulouse and elsewhere, so that she is in great trouble and danger for defending the king's honour; and the lieutenants of the Seneschal and the king's baillis do not want to defend and warrant her as they should, according to the letter of warrant that she has from John de Ferreres. She requests a letter to the present Seneschal, or to the person who will be Seneschal, or to their lieutenants, to preserve and defend her according to the previous letter.
