The merchants of Bazas and the Bazadais state that they are ready to carry wines and other merchandise to England and elsewhere, in war and peace, for the king's benefit, and request the king's letters patent granting safe-conduct and protection for themselves and their goods.

CPR 1327-30 p.273 is dated 20 May 1328, and may be in response to this petition, although the grant is for a specific time period rather than at pleasure. However, this seems a plausible date from the hand and language.
