Reference
SC 8/286/14252
Date
[1332]
Description
Petitioners
William (Guilhem) de Campaingne (Campagne).
Name(s)
de Campaingne (Campagne), William (Guilhem)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
William de Campaingne states that, at the request and on the advice of John Darci the kinsman and of the Seneschal of Gascony, he lent Peter de Galicien, when he was Constable of Bordeaux, £300 bordelais for certain business of the king's, as can be seen from letters patent which he has. This money remains unpaid, and he asks that the present Constable of Bordeaux, or the person who will be Constable, might be ordered to pay him, notwithstanding any previous command or ordinance of the king's.
Nature of endorsement
[On face] Brocas.[On dorse] The Constable is to be ordered that, when he has seen the information, if he can know that the money came to the king's benefit, he is to have him paid as soon as he properly can.
People mentioned
Peter (Pey) de Galicien (Galician), Constable of Bordeaux
John Darci (Darcy) 'le cosin' (the kinsman)
Brocas.
Note
Datable to 1332 with reference to m.6 of C 61/44, although it is hard to tell if this is in response to this petition or to SC 8/285/14230. This would agree with the mention of Peter de Galicien, Constable of Bordeaux between September 1329 and July 1331.
