Nature of request
Raymond Despeaup of Bayonne states that in the year of the king's coronation he came to London with 100 tuns of wine belonging to the king, but the king did not pay him his freight, but rather gave him an assignment in Gascony, where he cannot have payment. And the king took his ship, which was given to him by the king's father for the four years service he did him with it, and delivered it to Robert Roupere and Alan Gyle of London, when he had spent a lot of money on the ship and on paying the mariners. He requests some aid, and assignment for the remainder [of his freight and costs] in some certain place in the Duchy.
