Description
Petitioners
Bernard (Bernat) Dartiguelonque (d'Artiguelongue), citizen of Bayonne.
Name(s)
Dartiguelonque (d'Artiguelongue), Bernard (Bernat)
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Bernard Dartiguelonque states that the judgment in a case between him and Navarra Dormondie, who [was the] wife of Peter del Hospitau, concerning a certain sum of money which she demands from him, has gone against him, as the result of malice, as he can well prove, and despite two earlier judgments in his favour. He appeals to the king, and asks that auditors and judges might be assigned in England, so that he can be maintained in justice, as if the case were heard in Bayonne, his adversaries would be able to purchase judgment for themselves on the basis of this first judgment.
Nature of endorsement
The king wills that the Lieutenant in Gascony be ordered to keep all the cases of appeal in the point in which they now are, until there is a suitable man who will have power to hear and determine them; which will be as soon as it can properly be done.
